Update on 11/06/2010
2 more events now done.
One of the big ones for the year was the UK half Ironman triathlon (70.3). This went very well, with 3rd in my category and a finish time of 5h22min. This won me a place in the world championships in Clearwater, Florida in November, so very pleased with the result.
The other recent event was the Dartmoor Classic on Sunday 27 June. This was a 106mile long cyclosportive (bike ride). It was blazing hot and windless and I didn't feel quite right on Saturday preceeding the event. I rode anyway and came in at 7hr09min, which wasn't too bad considering the heat, but have since gone downhill fast and seem to have man flu (the worst type possible). In bed all day today feeling rough, but at least I get a chance to catch up doing this.
2nd in the Castle to Castle 1 mile open water swim (28mins) from Falmouth to St.Mawes. And first to then get around the 10km run course. Sponsorship for achievement and effort???
This year I am going to be doing quite a few races and hope that you feel able to support the charities I am racing for.The Cornwall Children's Hospice charity is my main charity. Currently, children and their families suffering from terminal diseases have to travel about 4 hours from Cornwall to Bristol to access hospice care. the charity aims to raise enough money to set up and run a children's hospice in Cornwall. I hope i never have to use their facilities, but for those desperately unlucky children and families needing the support of a hospice, having one in Cornwall will be a huge improvement over the present situation. Please support this incredibly important charity for the people of Cornwall. To make it worthwhile, I have taken on some fairly major challenges. I'm not asking you to donate for me to take on some mickey mouse challenge. The Rotary Club challenge is the UK Ironman 70.3. this is a 1.9km swim, 90km cycle and a 21km run. I hope to do this in 5hrs40min or less.My main challenge this year is the Norseman Extreme triathlon. This is described as the hardest triathlon on the planet. It's in Norway on 7 August and I hope you feel able to sponsor my efforts for this event. I hope to do about 16 hours for this race and think this deserves serious digging deep in the wallet.
May finished and another 2 races completed, so another appeal for donations please.
They're starting to get a little tougher now. Once again, any donations to this charity appeal are gratefully received.
Last weekend I did the West Cornwall middle distance triathlon. I came 12th overall.
Best ever triathlon result for me I think.

This was a 1.9km sea swim in the water next to St.Michael's Mount. The sea temperature was 13 degrees but the weather was warm and dry if a little breezy at times. The cycle ride was 83km of very hilly course - 1055m of hill climbing in total. This was then followed by a 20.4km run with 547m of hill climbing. In all, I managed to race 45mins faster than last year although the course was changed (but many thought it was a lot harder this year due to the hills).
On 16 May, I completed the Cornwall Tor 103 mile cycle sportive on in a time of 7hrs02min12sec.
If any of you have ridden the Tor or know people who have, you may have also heard that it's quite tough, so I'm hoping someone will feel that that was enough effort to warrant a small donation to my charity appeal. Results are on

In alphabetical not result order. I came about 73rd out of about 290 riders. Climbed 3238m of hills and burned 6324kcal doing so, so I got to eat a fair amount over the next few days catching up.
OK, everyone.
Another trail marathon done and a big improvement in position on a much tougher course.
I came 21st out of just over 170 this time, so rewards for achievement are welcome.

The race season is now underway and I have just completed my first challenge. I ran the Portland Coastal Trail marathon on Saturday 23.01.2010.
For those sponsoring me per km of racing this year, I would appreciate the first £42.20 into the account please! I will let you off the fact that the organisers had actually made the course 43.7km long and that 4km was across shingle beach!
SOme of you have wondered why i am rasing money for Rotary. This is just for convenience really. Rotary are affiliated with Ironman UK and help with setting up this website and with other sponsorship asistance. The actual charity getting the money is the South West Children's Hospice, so I hope you feel able to doante to this worthy cause.
I will kep you updated with each race as it comes along.

I came 48th in the marathon in a time of 4hr47min.
One of my sponsors has kindly offered to sponsor me for £1 for every km of racing I do this season. I will be doing at least 2 - 160km bike rides and at least 1 full ironman distance triathlon (226km total) as well as 2 1/2 ironman distance races. This winter i will be taking on 3 marathons run on coastal trails - tough courses. I may enter a few more events also. This could add up to some serious mileage. If you wish to do it this way, just e-mail me and I will let you know after each event and attach the results sheet for proof. Otherwise, a nice lump sum would be greatly appreciated.
