Story
Since being diagnosed with Bowel Cancer at the age of 32 in November 2010 life has been a bumpy road. With Chemo, Radiotherapy, Operations, more Chemo and a few more minor Operations. But I am almost at the end of the road now and am looking forward to enjoying every day.
Of course I will have more scans and worrying moments waiting to know the results are clear each time I visit the doctor for scans but I can put that to the back of my mind until I am sat in his room next time.
The journey through this treatment has been hard and sometimes overwhelming but I know that I got through it because of the great Doctors, Nurses, my fantastic family and supportive friends.
This year I have set myself a few challenges to raise some money for the Bath Royal United Hospital where I received some of my treatment. They are trying to raise enough to build a new specialist Cancer Unit.
My first challenge is to complete the Bath Half Marathon on Sunday 11 March. I am going to walk/jog the 13 miles with my Auntie Paula. I have only been able to train for the past couple of weeks as I still have an open hole in my tummy but as long as we make it to the finish I will be extremely happy.
I remember when I was on chemo I could not walk to the end on my Mum and Dads driveway so this will be my first big challenge.
Hopefully I will be able to keep you updated on here as often as possible so please come back and look again as you will see I have more exciting adventures to come.
Thank you for supporting me I hope you can give just a few pounds to help others who may need this unit in the future.
