Story
The Challenge
3v3v3: 3 days, 300 miles and 3 coasts.
The idea for the challenge was conceived by Mark Green and will see cyclists circumnavigate Devon in just three days. The second largest country in England, it is also one of the hilliest. In total there will be 26,000ft of climbing, Mount Everest, by comparison, is 29,000ft above sea level.
The riders will begin on the south coast, and travel north through an abundance of the beautiful countryside before reaching the north coast, before returning back south again.
Day 1
86miles
The grand depart will take place at Beacon Quay, Torquay. The group will travel along the south coast, before heading north at Plymouth, finishing the day in Tavistock.
Day 2
81miles
The shortest day of the challenge will see the riders travel north from Tavistock, join up with and then ride along the Tarka Trail, closing the day out in Ilfracombe.
Day 3
128miles
The county is at the mercy of the riders, or is it the other way around? The group will set off from Ilfracombe, heading south across Exmoor, and Dulverton, before reaching the coast at Budleigh Salterton. The riders will then come back along the coast, before returning to Beacon Quay in Torquay for a party at the Below Decks restaurant.
