Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Well i have completed the Para 10 P Coy challenge. It was physically a very hard race but i gave it my best shot despite having injuries and still finished under 2 hours so i was realy pleased.
I have added some photos so you can relive parts of the event with me.
I would like to thank everyone that sponsored me all the people that encouragement from the forums it realy kept me going and a special thankyou to Keith for being my bagman and following me the ten miles around the course with water and kind words well not sure i meant kind words more of xxxxxxxxx 4 ex without whom i would never have completed the task. Thank You
I am taking part in this years Para10 "P Coy" challenge race.
It is a 10 mile Cross Country Route and I will be carrying a bergen (rucksack) weighing 35lb (excluding food water) and wearing military style boots
The purpose is to raise any monies that I can along the way for the Help for Heroes charity .We hear alot about the unfortunate soldiers and civilians that are killed in the current troubles but there are a lot more maimed and wounded that don't make the news. On their return to the UK these soldiers are in need of specialist care and treatment to help them get back to fitness. This sort of thing costs money and charities such as Help for Heroes provide alot of the funds required.
I would also like to run this race in memory of
Lance Corporal David Leslie A Kirkness 3rd Battalion The Rifles British Army Birth: Dec. 11, 1985 Wakefield West Yorkshire , England Death: Dec. 15, 2009 Helmand Province , Afghanistan one of the many soldiers who have given there lives to help free others and who i hope will not be forgotten.I though this paragraph i found summed it up...
"It’s about the blokes, our men and women of the Armed Forces. It’s about Derek, a rugby player who has lost both his legs, it’s about Carl whose jaw is wired up so he has been drinking through a straw. It’s about Richard who was handed a mobile phone as he lay on the stretcher so he could say goodbye to his wife. It’s about Ben, it’s about Steven and Andy and Mark, it’s about them all. They are just blokes but they are our blokes; they are our heroes. We want to help our heroes."
I don't want to set a target of money to raise but I would like everyone that sees this page to donate just £1 and see how far we can go.
If you know anyone that would like to donate then please e-mail them this page.
Thanks, Mark
