Cardiff University has a strong track record in stem cell research, which can provide therapies for a range of cancers. Supporting a university at the forefront of this research means that the money will be directly used to support research.

Although I'm a chemist by training, I have to accept that chemicals are not always the answer. The drugs uses for cancer chemotherapy very often have significant side effects. Stem cell-based therapies, among other biochemical tools, have the potential to treat cancers with fewer side effects. Wouldn't it be great if toxic anti-cancer drugs were no-longer necessary? It would be even better if this could happen in our lifetimes!
