Story
Last year the Taylor Wimpey Adventure Team (comprising the TWEA board of Directors) jumped off the roof of Ickworth House - and survived.
This year we're going to barbecue our feet!
Apparently, previous participants have described firewalking as “incredible”, “brilliant”, “amazing” and even “life changing”. We fully expect to be describing our experience as "a bloody stupid idea!", but given that it's all in aid of a good cause, we're going to do it anyway!
St. Nicholas’ Hospice is a charity providing a special service for people with terminal and life shortening illnesses and their families. Their aim is to improve the quality of lives of patients and their families during life shortening illness and bereavement. In order to provide this much needed support they need to raise £11,000 a day.
So, what is the Firewalk? In simple terms, after a motivational training session, individuals walk across 20 feet of wood embers burning at 1236 degrees Fahrenheit without experiencing any pain or injury! Allegedly!
The Firewalk takes place at The Bush in Shimpling, on Friday the 29th October starting at around 7pm. There will be food (BBQ – expect sausages, burgers and toes) and entertainment (Morris Dancers!). It would be great to see as many people there as possible to help spur the walkers on, and to corner, catch and return anyone trying to escape before they walk the coals.
