Hello and thanks for visiting my donation and sposorship page for my "Lake District Walking Challenge" on behalf of Meningitis Now
I am participating in this event "The Lake District Challenge" on the 6th to the 9th of October 2016 along with a team of other fundraisers on behalf of this great charity organisation Meningitis Now (formally Meningitis Trust) who have helped my family on family days out and help on the phone for our son over the past few years.
Sam contracted Pneumococcal Meningitis at ten weeks old and it turned our world upside down Maningitis in any form is one of the most devastating diseases anyone can contract it is life changing and in its worse form can and has killed many.
Me and my wife rushed him to Barnsley General and after what seemed like an eternity he was transported to Sheffield Childrens Hospital where he was hooked up to life support, we was told by Dr Badnews he would not make it but on day three he started to take over the breathing gear and after day 5 in ICU he was breathing for himself! So much for Dr Badnews! Sam beat the worse of it and his brains swelling went down.
This disease left Sam with various symptoms ranging from deafness and severe learning dificulties to the worse of his symptoms that being Epilepsy in its various forms which is still being treated for.
Sam is now 15 and is a little (well actually quite big) star in his own right as due to also being Autistic, he has the gift of recital and can remember scripts (non written) from movies, music and plays, and he recently won The Keith Ellis Award for Perfoming Arts at his school.
The Challenge consists of 4 days based in Keswick 2 days are arrival and depart and two days (7-8th October) is the challenge, so on Day Two we will be taking in three 3000 ft summits which are Skiddaw, Helvellyn and Helvellyn Lower Man and on Day Three we will be taking in Scafell, Symonds Knott, Scafell Pike, Broad Crag and finally Ill Crag,
The total walking mileage will be 20 miles and about 18 hours of walking time.
I need to rase a minimum of £500 but it would be great to go above and beyond this target as this charity is more than worth the effort I will be putting in and I will probably need a week off to rest my bones but it will be well worth it and I shall be recording the event with my trusty camera.
So Please donate as little or as much as you feel as it all counts towards my goal and thank you all in advance.
