Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
5 weeks today I fully expect to be in bits after completing my first ever marathon in my fantastic home city of Liverpool.
I'm running this race in memory of my beautiful Sis Claire who lost her brave battle against Melanoma in December 2013. She like me liked the idea of running rather than the actual running part, although she looked much better than me in her running gear. I'm sure she will be with me every mile, like she was when Team Claire rode to Poland in 2014.
I must admit when i was told Claire had Melanoma, I didn't even know what it was, I certainly didn't think this cruel horrible disease would take my Sister away from us. Since then I have seen more and more people lose their fight against this brutal KILLER, we have to do all we can to combat it! Always wear high factor sun cream guys!!!
Like the Ride to Poland I will be running my first ever marathon to raise much needed funds for Melanoma UK, who provide much needed care and support to patients and their families during their very difficult journeys. Gillian and Melanoma UK where there for Claire and I will never forget that.
Special mention to my amazing Aunty Diane (#crazy/mad Aunty Di/Team Claire Boss), who since Claire's passing has made it her life goal to raise awareness against this terrible disease, she is a true inspiration to us all.
Right, how much training have I been doing........I started running again 5 weeks ago and after a recent 13 mile run I have realised 10 weeks probably isn't long enough to be ready for 26 gruelling miles, but I plan to up my game and get in the best shape possible for the 28th. I will keep you posted to the pain I'm willing to endure over the next 5 weeks for this fantastic cause and in memory of my Sister Claire x
