Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I first came across the Prince of Wales Hospice, like a lot of people, at a difficult time for my family, when my dad was admitted in 2000. We found out at first hand about the powerful support given to us all, and realised how absolutely necessary the hospice was to our community.

Subsequently, my wife Karen, sisters Jane and Julie, and mum Maureen work at the hospice, and have seen the way it can draw the community together in an inspirational way.

I'm attempting to climb Kilimanjaro in March, 2014 (summit day Thursday 6th March hopefully !!), as a part of my 50th birthday nonsense, along with my brother in law Mick, and a couple of good mates. The trip came about after a few beers at the cricket at Headingley, but we are training hard for the challenge, and are all fairly regular hillwalkers, so will give it our best shot.

I just thought the hospice would be the right cause to support. 20 years ago my dad would have been on the trek and with us every step of the way.

According to the hopice website, providing patients with a nutritious breakfast costs £5, so if I hit my target of £250 it will provide 50 breakfasts, which seems fitting on my 50th !!
