Story
Hi all,
On the 24th of September 2017 I am putting myself through a gruelling 100 mile bike ride around Birmingham and the surrounding Worcestershire countryside, which is going to take me over 6 hours of riding and 2000 metres of climbing, with the highest peak coming at the 90 mile point. This will be a huge personal challenge.
I’m doing this to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society. The Alzheimer's Society supports people to live well with dementia today and funds research to find a cure for tomorrow. They rely on voluntary donations to continue their vital work. Dementia can happen to anyone and sadly there's currently no cure. There are 850,000 people with dementia in the UK and the number is set to rise to 1 million by 2021.
If you could please donate whatever you can afford I would be most grateful; the money will go to a great cause. This is charity that is particularly close to mine and my family’s heart, having watched my wife’s much loved Nana battle with dementia for many years. All money raised will be donated to the Alzheimer’s Society in her memory, in the
hope that one day soon a cure will be found.
