Mark's Kilimanjaro Challenge

Kilimanjaro · 16 March 2014
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Please take a minute to read why I am taking on this challenge.
Over the last four or five years I have talked a lot about improving my health and wellbeing without ever committing to it. At the turn of the year I told myself that it was now or never having turned 50 last October. I knew I needed something to focus on so when my employer chose the Princes Trust as its Corporate Charity I found my motivation.
You see, to complete the challenge of climbing Kilimanjaro has required sacrifice, a great deal of fitness training and a complete overhaul of my lifestyle to get myself ready. Completing it has been a life changing experience. This why doing this for the Princes Trust is the perfect partnership.
On September 13th I successfully completed the Lake District 5 Peaks Challenge as a training run. Climbing Crinkle Crags, Bow Fell, Esk Pike and ending on Scafell Pike, the highest point in England, in 11 hours.
At 8.40 am on 24th October 2014 I successfully reached Uhuru Peak, the highest point on the continent of Africa at 5985m. This was the most physically, mentally and emotionally challenging event in my life and I am proud to have achieved it.
The trust gives practical and financial support to the young people who need it most. They help develop key skills, confidence and motivation, enabling young people to move into work, education or training. In other words provide them with support that will change their lives.

I appreciate that times are hard for many people so, even if you can only donate the odd pound or two here and there, it will really help.
Please remember to add gift aid. It doesn't cost you a penny more but the Princes Trust receives extra.
Thank you
