Story

My story

My running adventure started in 2015. It was challenging at first as I was overweight and out of shape but I managed to overcome the difficult time. I lost extra kilogrammes and got fitter and, as a result, I fell in love with  running and outdoor activities in nature.

Sometimes, I sustain an injury and then, I am most unhappy as I have to stop running for some time. Fortunately, I recover from injuries quickly and, together with my team and my coach, I get back onto running tracks in my hometown and surrounding areas.

In the past few years, I have been participating  in the Wings for Life running competition supporting research on spinal cord injuries. I would like to believe  my efforts in this competition bring hope to those with physical impairments and disabilities.

I have decided to take part in next year's London Marathon in order to fundraise for Meningitis Research Foundation.

Why Meningitis Research Foundation? Meningitis and septicemia are diseases that can kill in hours and anyone can become ill at any age.  In the high risk group are also teenagers my son's age. Szymon turns 14 in August this year. This is why I decided to support this charity.

Many thanks for your kind support with raising funds for MRF. I will now be getting ready for the London Marathon challenge.

Wish me luck!
Mariusz
