In October 2015, Marisa was diagnosed with ROS1+ stage IV lung cancer at Guy's and St. Thomas' Hospital, a mere month after starting her Masters degree in London. Thanks to the incredible care and expertise of Dr. Eleni Karapanagiotou, Dr. James Spicer, and countless other staff at Guy's and St. Thomas' Hospital, Marisa was given the targeted therapeutic drugs that made her feel better within 3 days and contributed to Marisa enjoying another 4 years. 

Needless to say, Guy's and St. Thomas' Hospital stayed close to Marisa's heart (not least since her nephew and nieces were all born there), and Marisa cared as deeply about other people's healthcare as much as her own.
