Story
Well i'm not sure if this is the cleverest thing I have ever thought about doing... it's ok though, Dad has pre-warned BUPA!!!
I can't think of a better charity to raise money for, and during those long 26miles, my memories of how Alzheimer's affected my Nanny Randles and potentially my Grandad Warwick will definitely keep me going.
I was asked by the charity why I should be given a place to run on behalf of them... quite simply I don't want people leaving this world not remembering the life they have had and for their loved ones to see them go through this distressing illness.
If the money raised can help people find a cure for Alzheimer's then the pain I experience will be worth it.
It's now nearly the end of February am running around 40 miles a week and my longest run so far this month has been 17 miles (Mum, Dad and Paul get a fun & detailed story of how I run each mile too...and Dad falls asleep with my boring chat!!). Now I never knew quite how far that was and truly didn't appreciate what my car does in a few minutes until I ran every step of that!! Hit a bit of a wall about 11 miles and then got over it and carried on.
Have had only one set back that took away half a weeks training but fingers crossed all good again now. Am doing a half marathon in a couple of weeks at Silverstone to get used to a race format, just for fun!!!!
I am so glad I am doing this for Alzheimer's as thinking of Nan, Granddad and other people that have suffered at the hands of this illness get me past those mental walls with even more determination.
I want to thanks all of those that have donated so far, and please keep reminding others to please donate to this worthy cause!
Please dig deep and help lead the fight against dementia!
Lots of Love
Marie
