Story
I'm joining Cancer Research UK's Race for Life this year. Please join the fight by digging deep and sponsoring me - it's quick, easy and totally secure.
In July 2015 my mum was diagnosed with terminal cancer. She lived in Spain so I was only able to see her a couple of times a year.
I had always been overweight, and this did concern my mum. It was because of this, and other medical reasons I decided to go down the weightloss surgery route after many years of unsuccessful dieting. I had my surgery date booked for 1st September, and when I last saw her on 30th July she made me promise I would definitely go ahead with the surgery.
My mum sadly passed away 3 days before my operation.
In 5 months, I have lost 5+ stone, and I feel it has given me a second chance.
I now attend a gym regularly, and my fitness has improved drastically! I never would have thought that I would ever be in this position, and I am doing the Race for Life in memory of my mum.
