Story

*Training update October*
October 22nd - Snowdon - last training before the big one!
October 9th - Ben Nevis with CYM. My first time in Scotland so what a shame we didn't have any views - not even driving up there but getting used to the rain. Really cold and windy on top of Ben Nevis which was covered in snow - I hope for more sunny views from Kilimanjaro than I've had from the UK mountains. Great trip though!
August - another Snowdon trip with CYM. Did walks three days and the day we climbed Mount Snowdon the weather was not impressive. Rainy, windy, and cold all day long. Despite the weather it was a great weekend and as usual great company.

July - Lake District. Over three days with beautiful sceneries and sunshine did among others Great Cable, Scafell Pike, and Red Pike. Walked 7-8 hours every day, in total 70.000 steps. Feet okay but minor blisters!

September - Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge with CYM. Very tough day. Did Pen-y-ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough - 50.000 steps in one go. The weather was horrendous - rain all day, very windy and cold. All my kit was soaked. Made it in 11h 40min but only because I had a pacer in front of me running the last miles!
I'm Marie and I am taking part in this challenge to raise much needed funds for this innovative charity that is based in Milton Keynes where I now live. CYM has only been established for a couple of years but has already benefited hundreds of people. I have only been involved with CYM since the beginning of this year but I feel very strongly about this worthy charity and have already seen what impact their work has had on many people's lives. Visit Climb Your Mountain to see more!
The money raised from my challenge helps people climb their own personal mountain they face in life by improving their physical and mental health. CYM offers free physical activities and events plus educational courses and additional help and support. Everyone goes through difficult times which could be depression, stress, loneliness, low selfesteem, anxiety, relationship problems, work related problems, financial hardship, ill health, drug and alcohol issues, etc.
At CYM they help support people through these difficult times. They put on hundreds of free activities - walking and running clubs, cycling, fitness classes, events and courses each year for people to participate in. These activities give people the focus they need to start again. People get fitter, healthier, increase their confidence, meet new people, go to new places and generally feel much more positive about life. The combination of exercise, a focus and sense of achievement will help boost their confidence and help them climb their own personal mountain they face.
By doing this challenge I will achieve something special personally but I will also know that by raising money for CYM many people will benefit. So if you can - please help support me and CYM by donating any spare coins!
Thank you so much!
