There is a tradition for the President of the Insurance Institute of Cardiff (IIC) to undertake a "challenge" and raise money for their chosen charity.

As the current President, I have Chosen Welsh Hearts as my charity and  have organized a 55 mile bike ride, open to all, to raise much needed funds for this amazing cause.  Heart disease accounts for over a third of all deaths across Wales each year and this is higher than the majority of Western European countries. Welsh Hearts provide public access defibrillators in Wales in close partnership with strategic partners, they conduct defibrillator and CPR training for the Welsh Public and continue to campaign for better awareness of cardiovascular health in Wales.

On a personal note, many members of my own family have had their lives affected with heart disease so I know only too well the value of the work Welsh Hearts is doing.
