Many of you will be aware and will have heard of Kelly Stabb, a close friend of mine who at 39 years old lost her battle to bowel cancer in August 2018. Whilst fighting this hideous disease for 18 months Kelly displayed amazing strength and courage that so many of us will never forget. Despite learning that her cancer was terminal, Kelly continued to raise money for Bowel Cancer West and succeeded in raising over
£35,000 which is a testament to her determination and selflessness. Bowel Cancer West became an important focus for Kelly, she succeeded in raising awareness aswell as raising an amazing amount of fundraising to support research in to the detection, prevention and cure of colorectal cancer.
Shortly before Kelly passed away I promised to carry out a bike ride – ‘The Great West Sportive’ in aid of Bowel Cancer West. My choice of charity and reasons behind I feel are obvious! Whilst there are so many negative emotions I personally feel the need to do something positive. I asked around and very quickly a team formed of some of Kelly’s friends to take part and support me on this challenge. We have a team of nine – 2 brave team mates will be completing the gruelling 103 miler, whilst the rest of us will be completing the challenging 73 miler.
Just to add to the challenge, the route couldn’t be any tougher with the
landscape of Dartmoor to contend with!
We would like to raise money for Bowel Cancer West in honour
of Kelly. Please support us by sparing some of your hard earned cash and donate to raise money for Bowel Cancer West.
103 Miles: Steve Taylor and Magnus Christie.
73 Miles: Marie Dowell, Nathan Cleave, Dan Bickford, Tonice
Edkins, Rob Hole, Pete Madge, Thomas Blanchard.
