Hello and thank you for taking the time to visit my fundraising page!

I'm raising money to help The Christie and it's expert staff work towards a future without cancer.

We've all heard the statistics - one in three people will be affected by cancer at some stage in their lives which is an extremely scary thought.

When i was growing up though i always saw cancer as something that can happen to people at the very end of their lives after living many long and happy years.

Since working at The Christie though, I've been shocked by just how many people, young and old, are affected by the awful disease and i've been saddened by the families that have had to say goodbye to their loved ones.  On a personal level, my dad's parents and my mum's dad all died after suffering with cancer.

At the same time though since working at The Christie I've seen people overcome cancer, I've seen women who thought they'd never be able to conceive due to treatment, go on to have beautiful bouncing babies!  It's truly amazing to see and hear, the joy in people's voices just fills you with goosebumps! And it certainly makes you realise that we shouldn't take anything for granted.

More and more people ARE beating cancer!

But to make sure this continues and to hope for a day when no more families have to go through the heartache of seeing their mum, their dad, their sister, their brother or any of their loved ones battle the disease we all have to do our bit.

I've seen how every little penny helps make a difference to the lives of patients. 

Whether it's new equipment, ground-breaking research, new buildings, or even things like counselling and complementary therapies to help ease pain during treatment, money raised goes straight to where it's needed.

This year I've signed up for a half marathon in September (the Great North Run) and next year plan to climb Mount Kilimanjaro to raise as much as i can.

I know time's are hard but I would appreciate if you could give any donation, small or large.  Let's see the end of cancer once and for all!! Thank you so so much xxx
