Story
Having worked for the National Memorial Arboretum for just over a year now, I'm completely hooked on the fabulous 150-acre Arboretum that our team passionately looks after to ensure that everyone has a place to Remember, special stories are shared and there is a space for all to reflect and celebrate life whenever they might need it.
I've learnt so much in such a short time and met some incredible people - I want my two young boys to be inspired, and to see how supporting others can make a difference, so here I am.
For the very first time, I am taking on the National Forest Trek to raise funds for the National Memorial Arboretum, DMRC Benevolent Fund, and The National Forest. I will be doing the full 75 miles challenge of the National Forest Trek from 9th to 11th September - there are 1 or 2 day options available, and I'd love some company if you fancy joining me!
This is a wonderful walk through the ever-changing National Forest and if you are able to support me with a donation then your contribution will be split across the three partner charities.
The National Memorial Arboretum is the UK’s year-round place of remembrance, an inspirational setting that is freely open to all.
The Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre Benevolent Fund is a volunteer-run charity that provides funding to support holistic, occupational and social integration opportunities for serving military patients at DMRC Stanford Hall.
The National Forest is one of the boldest environmental regeneration projects in the world, and they are truly transforming a scarred landscape from black to green here in the heart of the country.
I've never done anything quite this intense before - during Covid, I started running (very slowly) and have kept that up, and I did the 100 miles in May challenge for Mind last year. I'm hoping that that, coupled with some extra training will help me to make it through, but all donations and general encouragement will be gratefully received - as well as anyone who wants to walk beside me.
