Story
Did you know that in 2008 an estimated 12.7 million new cases of cancer occured world wide!!!!!!
The 4 most common cancers are : Lung, Female Breast, Bowel and Stomach
Worldwide almost 29 million people diagnosed with cancer within the 5 years previously were still alive at the end of 2008
It is estimated that if the current trends continue there will be 22 million new cases of cancer worldwide each year by 2030
IT'S TIME TO HELP TO CONTINUE THE ALREADY BENEFICIAL RESEARCH INTO THIS TERRIBLE DISEASE.
I am 40 this year and wanted to do something different to mark the occasion, I'm scared of heights and drops so jumping out of a plane or bungee jumping was definately OUT OF THE QUESTION!!!!!
Cancer is very close to my heart, my own mum has lost a breast and kidney because of it. We sadly lost my very dear and special Mother in Law (Maria Davies - who I'm doing this in memory off) to pancreatic cancer and so many dear friends have either suffered themselves or have had loved one's go through it.
I wanted to do "Race for Life" but because of my own conditions I don't think at the minute I could, even if I wanted too but I still wanted to do something to raise awareness and much needed funds.
On the 22nd June 2013 at the William Harding School summer Fayre (Aylesbury Bucks) I will be running a stall in aid of cancer Research - I WILL ALSO BE SHAVING MY HAIR OFF - A small sacrifice in the scheme of things.
I'm lucky, I have short hair and have the choice to do this. Unfortunately so many of our loved ones DON'T get this option when they go through very invasive chemotherapy treatments. I am doing this to show my support and solidarity to these very brave people.
My Aim is to raise £400 (keeping it in the "40" theme) or more if possible. So PLEASE donate whatever you can because EVERY PENNY COUNTS.
Please do come down and support me on the day too as well it will be great to have all my wonderful friends and family around to support me when I do it.
Many thanks in Advance. With much love to you all and those angels looking down on us xxxxxxxxx

Despite the miserable weather on Saturday I did have my hair shaved off and had an absolute ball raising lots of money for cancer research. Many thanks to EVERYONE that came down on the day to support me, my wonderful family and friends that helped on my various stalls which two of them had sold out with 2 hours left to go at the fete so that was amazing, and for every single one of you that has donated or sponsored me, I have COMPLETELY blown my original target out of the water and have even gone pass tripling it. I'm gobsmacked. THANK YOU ALL SO VERY MUCH. with love Maria xxxxx
