Story
When I was 5 years old I was rushed to the hospital where I
spent the next two weeks in a bed surrounded by a plastic chamber that pumped oxygen into it. During that time my doctors told me I had asthma. Over the years I had to go weekly to the doctor to have numerous types of tests done and be given all types of medicines to help me breathe better. I felt like I was held back from so many activities with friends or sports I wanted to participate in because there was concern about me having an attack and having to be
rushed back into the hospital. As I grew older I realized I was not going to let my asthma hold me back from having a life filled with physical activities. I got involved in cycling classes, CrossFit, rowing programs and more to the point where I realized asthma wasn't an issue I struggled with anymore. I started running marathons in 2016 and have been grateful that asthma has never hindered my ability to perform in a sport that has help me in so many ways.
I'm one of the lucky ones that no longer struggles with asthma. Unfortunately others have not been as fortunate. I want to raise money to help fund research to help in finding a cure. Now that I’m older, I think about how my parents must have felt when their 5 year old daughter was rushed to the hospital. I wouldn’t wish that experience on anyone and am thankful for the progress in research that has got me to where I am today.
Thank you in advance to those who donate!
