Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit Margaret's JustGiving page.

9th April 2024

Margaret unfortunately passed away peacefully on 27th March 2024, just over a month before her 102nd birthday. She had had a series of infections from just before the new year and these continued through the new year. Margaret, went into
hospital mid-March and unfortunately deteriorated over the two weeks.

A Thanksgiving - Celebration of Life service will be held at 1.30pm on 18th April at St Thomas Church Oakwood. It will also be streamed on their website.

Margaret continued to make jam until a week before she went into hospital. Therefore, any donations are welcome on this site to Nightingale Cancer Support in memory of Margaret and the incredible work that the Nightingale Cancer Support centre do.

Margaret has inspired many through her many years and particularly with this challenge. She was a wonderful Mother to Christine, mother-in-law and friend to many.

From Margaret. (David is just the inputter).

I am fundraising for the Nightingale Cancer Support Centre in my 100th year by making at least 50 jars of jam/marmalade throughout the year - 1 jar for every two years!

This is for me a particular challenge not only because of my young age (hmmm) but as I have limited sight due to Macular Degeneration and Rheumatoid Arthritis in both hands.  (I have very limited assistance from both David and Christine – usually just scraping out the pan if required and tasting of course!)  The rest of the task I complete by myself. It is something that I really enjoy doing.

I am fundraising for Nightingale as it's such a wonderful charity and cancer has affected number of people within my family including my Mother and within David's family.

I have made jam/marmalade for close family and friends (by donation to Nightingale) for many years but have decided to take the fundraising to another level in my 100th year.

Hopefully, you will help support this incredible charity for me in my 100th year in lieu of presents or gifts.

Sorry, I can't give you all a jar or two (as I cannot make this into a commercial process).

I intend to keep you posted (well David and Christine will) through Nightingale Cancer Support social media/newsletters etc and of course through this page where we will update pictures etc of the process and jars made so, please keep visiting this link or subscribe to the social media pages of Nightingale Cancer Support Centre -
