On Friday April 8th, 2016, after fighting a lung infection for some months, my Mum, Margaret Barnard, sadly passed away. The end was sudden, but not a surprise, and she slipped away, sleeping, with family by her side.
For the past decade she had battled Emphysema, (COPD) and had turned her energies into helping others do the same. She raised awareness through talks, stalls at various local events, and the annual abseil that would have been in its' 10th year in 2016. The abseil had raised £44,350 during the 9 years it took place. This year the abseil had to be cancelled because Mum just wasn't well enough.
Married to Doug for over 49 years, 2016 would have been their 50th anniversary. She leaves a gap in the lives of husband, Doug; daughter, Sarah; and grandchildren, Rowan and Morgan. She will be sorely missed by more than her family.
If you would have donated for the abseil, or would have considered sending flowers, then please consider donating here. She did so much to raise money for the British Lung Foundation in Wales, we think she would approve.
