Story
I am a 58 year old ex Scotland athlete and triathlete and was a member of Great Britain's long range rifle team competing in two world championships. I have had Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia (CLL) for over 12 years. I have had chemotherapy twice in the past 6 years but have now developed a gene mutation making my disease resistant to further treatment. I am now on a last resort drug called Ibrutinib. The outcome is very unclear as this drug has only recently become licensed in the UK and very few people are on it. In June of this year my wife and I are planning the ultimate cycling challenge, cycling around 2000 miles in 10 days. I will do 140 and Mag 60 miles, covering 200 miles a day between us. We are hoping to raise a large amount of money for research into what is the most common form of adult leukaemia in the western world which could affect any one of us and has no cure. I have always been into running, cycling and keeping fit and I am really passionate about completing this trip one more time as this could be my last time if a cure is not found. Any donation you may be able to give will be greatly appreciated.
