Mark Pickard can be quite persuasive, so when he rang to discuss the Police Unity Tour Cycle in support of 'Care of Police Survivors', we had to say 'yes'
Mark attends the memorial to remember Police officers lost in service each year, and part of this ceremony is the arrival of cyclists from all Forces, the starting point for most being The Mall, London. At the start each rider is given a bracelet engraved with a lost colleague. Their 180 mile cycling journey then begins, over two days......at the Sunday memorial, this bracelet is presented to the child of the deceased parent.
Mark explained that Derbyshire had never had a rider represent our County, and officers from other Forces had presented to our families.
That's the story......how could we possibly say 'no'
So, Stu Kershaw (D/Sgt Project Advenus), and Malc Shakespeare (D/Sgt C.C.U) will be joining representatives from across the country to unite, ride and remember
The event takes place on the final weekend in July, it would be great to see you there for the service of remembrance.
It would also be great to raise and donate money to 'C.O.P.S.' who support the families of our colleagues who are unfortunately no longer with us.
