Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In the Summer of 2017, along with a group of 25 other students, I will be visiting Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina, to spend time with children living in an orphanage. Every year, since 2004, sixth form students from The Heathland School visit the orphanage, and as a result, have built a very unique bond with not only the organisation, but the children we have been able to help.
Unfortunately, earlier this year, disaster struck the Children's Home when they were faced with three devastating issues, involving a fire, flooding due to a damaged roof, and most shockingly, theft. As you can imagine, it left the children heartbroken and the orphanage in a very difficult position. Due to child welfare being severely underfunded by the government, repairing the damage has proven to be the biggest challenge. Now more than ever, they need our help to raise enough money to secure the future of the home.
In order for this to happen, a minimum of £1000 is needed, which will contribute to organising events and outings with the children, maintenance of the orphanage, as well as other amenities. It will also be used towards funding the Halfway House Projects and Youth Programmes, providing educational, social and professional support to empower children to achieve their dreams beyond institutional care.
All your generous donations are greatly appreciated, no matter how big or small!
