Story
When Hiro became ill on 2 June 2017, he was taken to St Bart's Hospital. Fittingly, for a man who epitomised professionalism, he was cared for by doctors and nurses at the top of their game. It was St Bart's that saved Hiro's life last summer.
Hiro was also someone who never forgot kindnesses shown to him and his family.
While he was in the hospital, many who visited were deeply moved by the care and loving attitude shown to him there. This was true for the staff who worked in the intensive care ward. Also, amazingly, Japanese medics working at St Barts, though not on his ward, would regularly come and speak to Hiro at times of day and night when his family and friends could not be there. This undoubtedly helped Hiro feel peaceful and reassured. In light of this experience, the family have decided to establish this site to provide Hiro's friends with a practical way to express their affection for him, and to mark his passing on 22 December 2017.
