Robyn and I are going to be raising money for the African Children's fund which is a cause very important to the both of us. Recently I volunteered in Ghana and saw just how much the children of Africa need charities like this to support them. The charity looks at providing the children with clean water and a healthy amount of food. As well as this the money goes towards building shelters and providing an education for the children. Just 7p can provide a child with a bowl of porridge that could be all they eat in a day so PLEASE donate thaaaaank you!!!

A little bit from them...

'Our projects are run by local staff in each country we work in as they are committed to - and know the needs of - their own communities. Many of the projects we support have an educational focus and the one for which we are most well-known is our Kenyan Porridge Clubs. For just 7p per day, our partners provide needy school children with a mug of porridge. In some cases, this might be the only food the child eats but it does mean that their parents will allow them to go to school where their children will definitely be fed, rather than sending them to work, beg or scavenge for food. For every £7 you raise on top of your jump costs (if you decide to sign up for the 'jump for free' option), you will know you have fed 100 children. For each £18 raised, you will know you have fed a child for an entire year. So not only will that child have stayed in school, but as they are not hungry, they will also learn better while they are there. We now provide around 1,200 mugs of porridge each day in eight Kenyan schools and we are seeing wonderful results - enrollment in the schools has gone up, absenteeism has dropped massively and the children's exam results are also on the rise. Great news all round! And it shows that a little really can go a long way.'
