Story
I am in no way a swimmer so this will be a real challenge for me, think I’d find it easier to run 10 miles than swim 1! But if I wanna raise money I feel I need to make it a challenge!
I first became involved with First Steps while I was at uni, volunteering at their support group. When I graduated they offered me my first mental health job, starting my journey to where I am now: training to be a clinical psychologist. They are an amazing charity who support people of all genders and all ages struggling with any form of disordered eating and eating disorders, even those who are not eligible for support on the NHS. They also deliver training to help raise awareness of eating disorders and reduce the stigma surrounding them.
“First Steps ED is an award-winning and quality assured eating disorder charity working across the Midlands to offer care and support to adults, children and young people. The team are on hand to provide coping strategies and recovery services to individuals of all ages, genders and backgrounds. Our founding principles are built up from experts from experience, offering a service that helps those living with an eating disorder and their families, as well as break down the stigma around eating disorders.”
