Hi everyone! Thank you so much for checking out my page and donating to such a wonderful cause! I have Cystic Fibrosis, a genetically inherited disease which effects the lungs and digestive tract. It is a disease that is so hard to deal with, constant sickness due to life threatening chest infections such as MRSA, time consuming treatments and general emotional strain. I was diagnosed when I was just three years of age and every day since then has been a fight to stay  alive and well. Over the years my condition has worsened, my lung function has dropped to about 20% over the last five years which is a considerable drop. I would be constantly admitted due to lung infections, and spending two weeks in a hospital room coughing your guts up is not fun! Sometimes breathing would be the hardest thing I would do that day. I have always been stubborn when it comes to taking my treatments, but about two years ago my CF doctor really opened up about what would happen to me if I didn't begin to take care of myself, he told me I would not live much longer. Hearing those words really hit me hard, but they were also the best words I needed to hear. From that day on I took hold of my illness, began doing my treatments, doing regular exercise. Since that day I have not had one hospital admission and my lung function has increased, it is now at 83% which is fantastic!! However, I know there is so many more people in Ireland who have not had the chance to pick themselves up and have not been as lucky as I have been. Sadly many people are losing their lives way to soon to this horrible disease and it is not right. So, in dedication to these strong and wonderful people, I will run 10km in the Flora's Women's Mini Marathon in June. To me, 10km of a run is like running 30km up a mountain but I will do it even if I have to crawl my way to the finish line. We need your support in order to pay for modern Cystic Fibrosis facilities in hospitals because what we have now is definitely behind with the standards of the rest of the world. I hope to inspire others with my illness to change their lives and live every day to the best of their ability, and even inspire those who don't have this horrible disease. I want to thank you all in advance for your support and donations!
