Story
At Christmas, more than any other time, The Salvation Army works tirelessly for people in need. This is set to be a difficult winter for so many as they adapt to the changing economy, increased fuel bills and the end of the Universal Credit uplift. Many that we work with were struggling even before these changes. We want to share love and hope this Christmas and with your help provide gifts for children who would not otherwise receive a present on Christmas Day.
Last year we supported over 400 children in this way in the Maidstone area. The restrictions caused by the pandemic made us rethink the way that we did this from providing physical toys to giving gift cards for families that had been referred to us by professional agencies and schools. We made this decision this with great trepidation and without knowing if we could raise the £8000 that we needed, but we should never have doubted! The money raised was exactly the amount we needed to buy the vouchers.
Our aim is to give £20 per child in vouchers for a toyshop, but whatever you can give will help to buy a toy for a child who will otherwise not receive a present this Christmas and bring some much needed joy in this season of giving.
Thank you for 'Being a Star' and supporting our Christmas Present Appeal 2021. God bless you.
