Story
Agandi!
My name is Mai-Britt Meijer. I teach at the European School
in Bergen, the Netherlands. Every week I try to swim some laps in my free period. In the pool I met Nello
and as I was catching my breath from the laps I just did, he told me about his
sister Rita and her good work near the Rwenzori mountains in western Uganda. This
got me talking about my time working as a teacher in south-west Uganda.
And so I joined the Kagando Swim
Challenge Team to help raise money in support of Rita and her work for the Kagando Hospital and the Rwenzori community! Check out the link 'Friends of Kagando' on the right to get more information. Or copy-paste one of the links below to find out how your money will be used.
The last swim challenge was in December and on the 19th of June it's time for a new challenge!
My time for 100m freestyle was 1:21 and I am aiming to go as far as I can under
1:20, hopefully 1:18!
It goes without saying I will give it my all to get those
seconds off my time! Who's wants to make me work hard for it and donate an
amount per second I swim
under my time (with a minimum amount....just in case :-) Of course you can also choose to donate a fixed amount.
Help the people in the Kagando District getting (better) access to education, health care and basic living needs. Weebale! Thank you!
** UPDATE ** So we had a right go resulting in two PBs!!! Nello swam 1:22, inside the FINA Masters qualifier (60+) of 123 for 100m Freestyle. Jackie swam 12:44 for 800m (!) Freestyle. Mai swam 1:19 for 100m Freestyle improving her previous time of 1:21 by 2 seconds! THANKS to everyone for your kind donations!
