Domestic Abuse does not discriminate. It affects, women, men, children and families. This Ramadan our campaign is focusing on all those who are affected by abuse and the detrimental affects of abuse.
Two women a week are killed by a current or former partner in England and Wales alone. Some cant take it anymore, and take the heartbreaking decision to end their own life. Your support can save lives.
Every year there are children across the UK who live with the terror of domestic abuse. Who witness horrific acts of violence or aggression, and grow up feeling deeply afraid and unsafe. Some children fear going to school because they are too scared to leave the abused parent alone with the abuser. Some children face abuse themselves. No child should ever have to feel so afraid and unsafe. Through your generous support we can provide critical services to families in need.
Social norms force men into a position of maintaining the appearance of a tough and unbreakable attitude. Male survivors of abuse often feel they have nowhere to turn or that no one will take them seriously. This ultimately results in the inability to report abuse or seek support when they are experiencing horrific and often life-threatening abuse. Many men feel like they will be shamed if they speak about the abuse. Many are afraid of losing access to their children if they do speak up or that they will be unable to protect their children from the abuser if they separate. Everyone should be able to access the support that they need, and men in our communities should not have to suffer in silence.
Let us all unite this Ramadan and help give a voice to those suffering in silence.
