Story
5 years ago I was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia. It was as serious as it can get.
Fortunately, I was matched with a donor and had a stem cell transplant. This life-saving opportunity was thanks to the Anthony Nolan trust, who do ground-breaking work, saving the lives of people with blood cancer.
A year after my transplant – whilst still in recovery and with frequent hospital visits – I picked up a ukulele for the first time. The ukulele, and the many friends that I have made, have pulled me through dark times and enriched my life.
I am celebrating my last five years with a joyful ukulele bash. Its taking place on Saturday 17th September, between 12 and 4pm, at the Pantiles in Tunbridge Wells. There will be no less than seven wonderful ukulele bands – do join us!
