Story
After reading a book about ‘settlement houses’ at school, and in particular the great work of Jane Addams, Mae was inspired to raise money for Toynbee Hall - the first settlement house in the world, established in 1884.
Nowadays, Toynbee Hall works to create a fairer and happier society through supporting people and communities to drive social change in Tower Hamlets. The borough is one of the most culturally diverse in London – but its community also faces huge social challenges. It is also the most deprived borough in the UK, where half of children will grow up in income-deprived families, and older people face the highest levels of poverty for their age group in the whole of England.
On 28th October, Mae will complete 1000 ‘seat drops’ on her trampoline, and would be grateful for any money you can spare to help support this fantastic charity!
