Story
Hey Everyone!
This summer on the 22nd June, I will be attempting to swim from Dover to Calais in a five-person relay team. This is something I have dreamed of doing ever since I started doing swimming aged 7. I eventually hope to swim it single handedly although I can't wait for this extreme experience coming up. It is a great honor to have been chosen to do this especially as I am only 13. The dream is coming true already .
My wonderful team consits of Claire, Steve, Guy, Ali and of course myself. The crossing is roughly 25 miles and we each swim for an hour on a rotation until we reach France. We may not be the fastest team in the world but we are embracing this challenge with open arms and lots of enthusiasm AND NOTHING WILL STOP US! Whist we are not swimming, we are travelling on a boat going rather slowly so that means up and down up and down (you get my gist) on some wonderful (?) waves. I am not looking forward to this as suffering from sea sickness does not sound good, I should be tucked up in bed fast asleep (OR at school (the sleeping option sounds a million times better!) ). AND the jelly fish. They are my worst nightmare so far!
We are raising money for a charity called the Haven Project. The Haven Project is a practical Christian programme providing hope, aid, vision, education and new life for many orphan or abandoned children in Thailand and surrounding Asian countries. Many of these children have been affected by drugs, disease, war and natural disasters. Others suffer abuse by paedophiles, child sex and prostitution rings. The money I raise will go towards having an orphanage built in Tailand. My target is £1000 and I hope that you do not mind giving a donation however large or small. It all helps the cause.
THANK YOU :)
