We all need to keep moving during lockdown, why not fundraise while you do it? Whether it's through sponsored dancing, walking, running or swimming, we need your help to continue to change the lives of people with learning disabilities through dance.

Story

A British summer.  Champagne sailing?  Probably not.  This is a very personal challenge.  Malcolm and I are expecting serious challenges along the way but trust to our experience, some knowledge, each other, and a little bit of luck!

We watch in amazement as Jen's unique charity DanceSyndrome reaches more people, transforms more lives, impacts more agendas from health to social care, arts, sports, disability, business and social enterprise, and in ever increasing numbers of arenas from universities, to schools, HE, FE, community, award ceremonies, celebrations and festivals.

It is innovative, proactive, dynamic, inspiring and reaches far beyond the  obvious health and wellbeing benefits of dance.  DanceSyndrome Dance Leaders do have learning disabilities but their disability doesn't define them. They lead from the front defying all expectations.  Using a model of co-production and working alongside Dance Artists they are inclusive welcoming everyone to join in the fun as they bring joy to countless people.

Dance is used to unlock potential but the skills that people learn can be transferred to other aspects of life beyond the arts. People with learning disabilities are empowered to become visible, active members of society who are changing accepted beliefs about what people with learning disabilities are ABLE to do. People are empowered for life after taking part in DanceSyndrome sessions and there isn't any other provision like it in the North West.

Malcolm and I are raising funds to ensure that this life changing work continues into the future and appreciate your donations, large or small. They all make a significant difference to the vital work of the small charity DanceSyndrome which has become a lifeline for many.
