Story
The lads at MWT Civil Engineering were keen to do a charitable event this year, we racked our brains in deciding which of the many worthy local causes we would try and raise money for. It appears that so many charity events have been postponed or cancelled due to covid 19 , leaving organisations in desperate needs of funds to secure their existence and ongoing work.
This year ,we have come up with an idea which will help two causes and one which we hope will encourage you to support us by making what ever size donation you can:-
organization we will be working with are
Happy faces charity , Rhos on Sea – Children's charity
covering the whole of North Wales, helping sick, disabled and disadvantaged children. With charity events being postponed and cancelled due to covid 19, the charity has had to cut back on the support they have been able to give and a time when local children in need could really do with boost.
Welsh Mountain zoo – The Zoo charity’s running costs whilst they were closed due to covid 19 lockdowns were over £118,000 per month. Combine this with lost income whilst they were closed of over £700,000 the position the zoo now finds its self in is the worst that it has experienced in its 57-year history. None of us want to see the Zoo disappear so let’s support it if we can.
This year we want to raise money to sponsor a day at the zoo for local children who wouldn’t normally be able to visit. The day will be held at the end of the Zoos season when it is normally getting quieter. We hope this will not only but smiles of children’s faces by giving them a fantastic day out but it will also help boost the zoos income in a year when they need it most.
Our main
fund raising event will be the Mountain challenge – to be held on the 31st July!, two teams from MWT will cycle 20 miles from Llanberis to the bottom of the Rhyd ddu Snowdon path, they will leave their bikes and walk to the summit before returning to their bikes and another 10mile cycle to Llyn Gwynant. At Llyn Gwynant they will take to rafted canoes to conquer the lake prior to getting back on their bikes and climbing to the top of pen y pass before the long downhill section back to the finish line in Llanberis.
This will be no easy feat! The teams are already in training and fear of what they have signed upto is sinking in
Please make it worth while and give them whatever support you can
