Story
Shelter from the Storm is a charity that provides emergency night shelter – with just over 40 beds. At the moment it has just 3 paid staff, a councillor who comes in once a week and an English teacher who comes in some evenings – and aside from that it’s run entirely by volunteers. There is all the basic needs stuff like giving people a place to sleep, shower, eat, wash their clothes, and leave their belongings during the day, but also 2 of the staff are full time case workers who work with guests to help them get into employment and/or into more permanent accommodation.
