Story
Over seven days I will be running the equivalent of a marathon - at least 6km each day. This is a very small hardship on my part to help those in much greater need. Please read my story below to understand why and why it is so personally important to me.
The earthquake, and its many aftershocks, has been devastating in Nepal. This is a country that is already poor and struggling and now urgently needs our help.
Nepal and its people have been part of my life since 2011 when I went to Kathmandu to volunteer with MySmallHelp and work with the amazing Leander Hollings and Raju Maharjan. I got to know and understand the work they do with orphaned children in the Marybert School, and many other families and projects around the country. I have been sponsoring a beautiful girl called Kalapna since then to enable her to continue her education. I was lucky enough to visit again in December 2014 and saw again just how special this country and its people are.
The recent earthquake has devastated an already struggling country. Help has started to arrive from the large NGOs to provide emergency relief. However, I am fundraising for MySmallHelp so that they can help this effort, and also work on more long term projects to resurrect the invaluable work they have have been doing after this major setback. Please be assured that any money you donate is vitally needed and will be used responsibly and professionally to give desperate help to those affected by this disaster.
Some of the people and families that this money will help are my personal friends, and it is devastating to think that they are in such need at this time. i have decided to challenge myself and undergo a tiny bit of hardship in order to help them whilst I am so far away.
I am so grateful for your support. Please donate what ever you feel you are able to do.
