Despite being a very fit and healthy person all her life, at the age of 61, Lynn was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in November 2020 and had to undergo major emergency spinal reconstructive surgery followed immediately by cancer treatment. She undertook all the treatments recommended by her superb medical team. This included 6 months of outpatient Chemo, 2 bone marrow transplants and further I/V Chemo in hospital. Alas it was to no avail and on Saturday 7th of May 2022, she elected to cease treatment and move to a palliative regime.

Since then and as sadly predicted, she has rapidly deteriorated and will soon die. Her kidney functions have virtually ceased and she started having psychotic episodes, meaning she is now on EOL drugs to ease her anxiety. She is a brave and pragmatic woman who, before succumbing to numbing effects of these essential EOL drugs, realised how lucky she had been to have family and friends to support her though this difficult time.

She asked me to do what I can to raise money for organisations that support people who face this situation alone. I Know that Dougie Mac is one such charity, it is local to us in Stoke and it relies heavily on fundraising initiatives like this.
