Deans  story

Read 12 year old Dean Boyce's moving account of his hospital journey from Inverness to Glasgow after being diagnosed with a brain tumour and bacterial meningitis last year. Dean told us:

"We had to go home and tell my wee brother, grandparents and uncles in Inverness. This was very hard and upsetting.

"I felt upset and sad when I said goodbye to my family. On the way to Glasgow I was nervous because I knew I was getting an operation on my brain.

"When I got to Glasgow Children’s Hospital I was still worried. I didn't really know what a tumour was but the neurosurgical team and nurses let me ask lots of questions. They were very helpful and helped me understand what was going to happen."
