Story
My name is Lyndsey Hall I’m 36 years old, I have just been accepted to do the Great North Run in September. This is a great achievement for me, because I was born with hip dysplasia and because of this I’ve had to have four hip replacements.
My condition means that I’m always in pain and continue to have problems with my hip, for example my hip dislocated six weeks after my last operation. But I have a positive attitude and always think about those who are less fortunate than me.
I’ve been going to the gym for over two years to strengthen my hip muscles, which has made a great improvement. I went to the Great North Run for the first time last year to support my husband who finished the race. There was a great atmosphere and I thought it was a great achievement for those finishing the run. This experience as a spectator inspired me to have a go myself.
So I started running in November last year, as part of my training. I found it tough going at first and as a result I've quit smoking for this run which has helped a great deal. I feel so much better in my health and that alone is a great achievement.
At the moment I’m running 3 miles four times a week and adding a mile on a month, so I’m doing quite well.
So please help me raise as much money as possible for this fantastic charity.
