Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As I'm sure all of you that know me will be aware, I am not a runner. I'm definitely built for comfort rather than speed. But I just couldn't resist the chance to dress up in a costume and prove to people that I could do this (even if I collapse in a red faced heap at the end of the course!) At the very least it will provide anyone who comes to cheer me on with a good old laugh.
Did you know:
- Every year 3,600 new cases of cancer are diagnosed in children and young people between 0-24. 1,600 of these cases are in children aged 0-14; this means that 1 in every 500 children will develop some form of cancer by the age of 14.
- Around 280 children, aged 0 to 14 years, lose their lives to cancer every year in the UK, and around 50 young adults (aged 15-19 years) die every year from cancers diagnosed before their fifteenth birthday.
- In the UK, cancer is the most common cause of death in children aged 1 to 14 years, accounting for around one fifth of deaths in this age group.
So please dig deep, and help me to hit my target of £300 for this wonderful charity and play my part in contributing towards my company's goal of raising £6000 for Children with Cancer UK over the course of this year.
