Fundraising for Help for Heroes
Hello, my name is Lydia and i'm a double below knee amputtee due to Meningitis when i was 2 years old. I have just turned 11 and for the first time i'm attemting the London Mini Marathon in a Racing Wheelchair. I tried Wheelchair Racing for the first time 6 months ago and this was because i was having the bones trimmed in my legs again. It was something i could do in the months i was unable to wear my prosthetic legs. All through the winter i have been training, with the fantastic support of NDAC...... and i love it!!!
I have the huge honour of being the only Child Patron for the Fantastic Charity Help For Heroes. I try to raise as much as i can for our wounded servicemen because so many have got legs like me. But this time i am trying to raise money for Wheelpower too. I have been extremely lucky to be the first child to get funding for a new Racing Wheelchair through Wheelpower. Which i am hoping will be ready for me to use for the Marathon. This year they are hoping to raise money to buy 2012 Racing Wheelchairs with the help of the Rotary Club. Their aim is so that other children could then have as much fun as i do and maybe have the opportunity to take part in the next Paralympics.
Please, could you make a donation to help both these fantastic Charities and i promise i will try my very best.....thank you xx
