Story
Thanks for visiting this page.
I ran the Brighton Marathon on the 10th April 2011 in 3h48 and the London Marathon on the 17th April 2011 in 4h11 ! My legs ached all the way on the London its nothing compared to the muscular pain that sufferers of Dystonia have to live with every day.
The charity I'm running for is the Dystonia Society. There is very little known about the condition of Dystonia and you may not have heard about it before. It's often misdiagnosed which hinders correct treatment and care. Over 70,000 people are currently living with Dystonia in the UK.
Dystonia causes involuntary uncontrollable muscle cramps and spasms. It forces the body into movements that are painful and completely uncontrollable. Those affected with Dystonia are affected every day. It is not understood what triggers this condition. Treatment is sporadic in effectiveness. There is no known cure; or time frames for how long someone will have Dystonia.
Anybody can suddenly become affected whatever age, background, lifestyle.
The Dystonia Society aims to ensure that everyone affected has access to the most appropriate treatment, support and information they need to achieve the best possible quality of life whilst affected with this condition.
Please give generously whatever you can afford to help.
Please also visit the websites and find out more about this often misdiagnosed condition.
