Story
I have – possibly in a moment of madness – signed up to run the 2023 London Marathon in aid of RNID.
Anyone who knows me will have raised eyebrows at this point…I’ll be 43 years old when I cross the start line, and have never run anything close to a marathon before. I like cheese and I like wine and I like watching telly in the warm.
But I work for RNID, and I see day-in-day-out the huge difference they are making for people who are deaf, have hearing loss or tinnitus. There are 12million people that applies to in the UK today –
certainly someone you know or love will be affected, and I know people I love are. Research into hearing loss and tinnitus is chronically underfunded, but RNID are driving it forward, and aim to have treatments to reverse hearing loss and silence tinnitus in final clinical trials in the next few years. And right now they are working to make our society more inclusive for people who are deaf, have hearing loss or tinnitus, and fight the stigma and prejudice people have to face on a daily basis.
All the money you donate will go directly to RNID, to help this work. If you can, I would be so grateful if you could donate on this page and help me towards my target. In return, you can enjoy thinking about me getting up at 5am to stagger through the dark streets of Calderdale in the hope of getting round 26.2 miles in one piece come April 2023…!
