Story
8 YEARS AGO, on the 24th October at 12 O'clock midday, I lost my Father not only to Parkinsons but Cancer. He said, when he found out he'd got Cancer on top of his already debilitating disease, he must be really needed up there! He always had positive take on life when most wouldn't!
He won a couple of medals for Long distance so in memory I am racing the deserts! This is my fourth such race with Racing the Planet and my first COLD one. It takes place in Antarctica and I leave on the 14th November and have to cross the Drake Passage by boat first to get there, which some say is the roughest crossing to be made by boat.
This Antarctica desert race sure is Long distance! Like the others I have already done, Its a 150 mile self-supported footrace. Its part of the 4 deserts series, I have already done 3 hot ones (Namibia, Sahara and Gobi) and named by TIME magazine as one of the Top 10 Endurance competitons in the world for the second year in a row and remains the only multi-day stage race on the Antarctic continent. Fifty Six individuals are competing in The Last Desert (Antarctica) 2010.
If you want more details of how difficult it will be and why I think I'm elligble to ask you for money please go to http://www.4deserts.com/thelastdesert/rtpldtp.php?SID=5&SBID=R1
Thank you and even if you cant dig deep please dig a bit!!
