This is Charlie Graingers story ....

Charlie was diagnosed quadriplegic cerebral palsy in 2010. His family and friends have been raising funds to enable them to investigate surgical procedures,fund equipment and provide therapies that can help Charlie to reach his maximum potential.

Through the generosity of many donors,he went to America in 2013 for Selective Dorsal Rhizothomy. This procedure was successful however, the intensive 4 session per week of physiotherapy is essential to rebuild his strength. 

This will continue for the foreseeable future at a cost of £200 a week. 

Charlie's parents now also need to look at adapting their home to accommodate his needs. Charlie is proving more difficult to carry and there are concerns for his safety and the health of his parents in the toll it takes to carry him. 

So far the local authority has agreed to put £18,000 towards a new ground floor bedroom and wet room for him,but the estimated cost is around £40-£60,000 which is a sum way beyond his families means.

When the extension is built they will have to use Charlie's fund to purchase essential equipment eg hoist,shower seat etc.

Charlie's opportunity to reach his maximum potential will depend on the continuing generosity of donors for some years.
